Catholic Central was established on January 6th 2006 by Matthew Bohrn. The writers of Catholic Central refer to themselves as Web Disciples. The position of Senior Web Disciple is currently filled by Matthew Bohrn. Brent Hardy became the first Junior Web Disciple of Catholic Central on November 23rd 2006. On March 9th 2007 Brent was officially promoted to his current position of Honorary Senior Web Disciple Second Chair. On February 2nd 2007, Catholic Central changed hosts and began using our current domain name of catholiccentralca.net
The Catholic Central logo was changed in November of 2006 during a major upgrade to much of our content.
This was our logo from our founding unitl November 2006; this logo in still in for sub-sites such as Catholic Central Printing.
The first project undertaken by Junior Web Dicisciple & HTML/XHTML SME Andy Russell was to redesign the logo. He was kind enough to preserve the Bible I had spent so much time and effort drawing.
This logo was used from November 2006 until April of 2007; this logo is still in use on Catholic Central documents such as Web Disciple certificates. The current logo is featured on our home page.
Interested in becoming a Junior Web Disciple? You must be a practising Roman Catholic, have a working email address and experience with HTML. As a Junior Web Disciple you will have the opportunity to submit web pages to the Senior Web Disciple. If the SWD approves your page, it will be added to the site. You will receive a Catholic Central email address (yourname@catholiccentralca.net) Currently, there are nine (9) vacancies for the position of Junior Web Disciples, although this is subject to change at the discretion of the Senior Web Disciple and/or Senior Web Disciple Second Chair.
If you are not Catholic you may become an Honorary Web Disciple. You will receive a Catholic Central email address, however, you will not be allowed to submit pages to the Senior Disciple. You may submit comments about existing pages if the SWD approves them, they will be added to the appropriate page. There is no limit to the number of HWDs although this is subject to change at the discretion of the Senior Web Disciple and Senior Web Disciple Second Chair.
